Part 2 of 3: Product marketing - What type of internet marketer are you? (or how to choose your online business model)

Continuing my three part guide on how to choose your online business model, in part two I’m covering reasons to be a product marketer (or merchant). You’ll remember, one of the questions I asked my friend was, “How important is keeping all the money to you?”

Hopefully, you can answer that with a resounding very. And there are many reasons why you should seriously consider this business model. Let’s go.

A friend of mine recently asked, “Chris, what’s the best type of internet marketer for me to be?” I answered, “That depends on whether you prefer creating your own products, marketing other people’s products or marketing content. What are you best suited to? How important is keeping all the money to you? Do you consider being a merchant is a hassle? And these aren’t the only questions.”

How to choose your niche for internet marketing

The two questions I hear most from people new to internet marketing are, "how do I choose a niche market?" and, "what do I sell to that niche?"

Hearing those two questions for long enough prompted two better questions...

a) "does the niche I'm thinking of consist of people who are currently buying things online right now?"

Marketing: it all started with 'Hot Wheels'!

My introduction to marketing started at the tender age of eight, when I was dreaming of a new toy for Christmas. I had my heart set on a 'Hot Wheels' set and for only one reason: the person doing the voice-over for the commercial made owning it sound... so advanced... so exciting! I'd become a sophisticated eight year old by owning it! And in a heart-beat I was hooked.

And that is why people buy anything.
